ACP08 Conference, Amsterdam, 6-7 November 2008

Adaptive Content Processing Conference 2008

The ACP ’08 Conference was held in the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam on 6/7th November 2008. The conference was jointly hosted by the EUAIN Network, the ProAccess Project and the Federation of Dutch Publishers and was held as part of the Amsterdam World Book Capital celebrations.

New technologies are changing the way in which we create, produce and consume content. Over the last few years, the publishing industry in Europe and beyond has been active in responding to the growing demand for more accessible, adaptive content. The publication of the recent Green Paper on Copyright in the Knowledge Economy demonstrates the central role of these issues.

At the ACP ’08 Conference we hosted a fascinating Round Table discussion on the Green Paper with some key voices from the publishing and accessibility communities. A synchronised podcast of this discussion can be downloaded from the Conference website.

ACP08 tried to bring together a wide range of stakeholders in adaptive content processing and all presentaties from the conference are available online.

  • current practices of publishing processes,
  • content formats needed by visual impaired people

Relevant stakeholders such as representatives of the publishing sector, both publishers and technical publishing professionals, experts in conversion processes and representatives of blind organisations and experts in accessibility conversion were involved in an active participation and have been asked to contribute to the discussion with their specific experience and expertise.
